Why I Love Filming WEddings In Surrey

I love capturing weddings all over the UK and the world however, I greatly enjoy filming weddings in Surrey as it is where I am based and it hosts every type of venue. The more you venture out from the urban areas of Surrey, the more history you will uncover and the more romantic scenery you will discover. From fairytale castles to majestic mansions, manor houses and traditional chapels, every part of Surrey’s history makes it the perfect location to find your perfect wedding venue and for someone like myself to film your special day.

Surrey also has a wide variety of different areas, which provide so many different opportunities for beautiful wedding locations. Whether that is the urban areas such as Esher, Kingston Upon Thames, Caterham, and Raynes Park that are on the border-line of London. Or the outstanding areas of natural beauty like the Surrey Hills, which have stunning landscapes, fairy-tale woodlands, or sweeping meadows that create the perfect wedding videos.

Filming weddings in Surrey or more specifically Dorking is a great example of this, it hosts a range of different venues with a rich history, such as Gildings Barn, Wotton House and the Mercure Box Hill Burford Bridge Hotel. Accompanying these beautiful venues are the stunning landscapes and countryside that stretch as far as the eye can see and make for the perfect setting for the most dreamy cinematic couple shots.

Moreover, Surrey hosts a number of the most prestigious wedding venues in the whole of the UK and some of which are my favorite venues to film at, such as Hampton Court Palace which won an award for the most historic wedding venue in 2020 and Busbridge Lakes, which won an award for the best pop-up wedding venue in the UK in 2020. There are also a number of other perfect venues such as Botleys Mansion in Chertsey, Pennyhill Park in Bagshot, Farnham Castle in Farnham and Great Fosters in Egham.

 No matter where you are in Surrey or what time of year it is, I love being able to use the outstanding landscapes to help express your story through film and turn them into memories that you will treasure for the rest of your life.

Like most people, I am sure that you have dreamed of getting married since you were young, you have now found your soulmate and he/she has finally popped the question so the planning begins. You find your perfect wedding venue in Surrey and your list of other suppliers that you need to book starts to grow (photographer, florist, caterer, videographer) just to name a few. So, why risk using a videographer that you may not get along with or could potentially make you feel awkward by having a camera in your face for most of the day?

I am a huge people person. One huge factor that a lot of couples forget about when choosing their suppliers for their Surrey wedding day is that your videographer is going to be by your side for most of the day. Whether you are getting ready at the bridal prep, sliding the ring on your partner’s finger during the ceremony, or dancing the Two Step for your first dance, your videographer will be close by capturing all of it.

I love chatting with my couples before they book me and I would always advise against booking your photographer and videographer until you have had a chat with them, you will want to have a relationship with them that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed whilst still being able to be yourselves. Anyone can chat with you about what type of video you may be looking for but not everyone can make you feel as comfortable as a friend. We would usually discuss the details such as doing a father or bridesmaids reveal shot, where and when we will be doing the confetti shot and if you will be tying a knot during your ceremony whilst answering any questions that you may have for me.

Videography is more than just a job to me - It’s My Passion!

Having a videographer is sometimes forgotten about when it comes to planning your special day! Whether you are getting married in Surrey or not, I believe it is crucial to have a videographer not just to capture your day but to allow you to truly enhance and relive the day you've been waiting for your whole life. 

My job is to turn your wedding and your love story into a work of art through the power of video. I do this by creating a short storybook feature film that captures your true love story and the legacy that you want to leave behind in a story that is unique to you (as can be seen in all of my wedding videos that are Surrey based and all over the UK).

I offer two different types of wedding videos, both showcase your wedding day and love story but in slightly different ways. For example, Dan and Rochelle’s wedding was at Nonsuch Mansion in Surrey and their story has been expressed through my highlight video. This video incorporates all of the best and most romantic parts of your day such as the bridal prep, the main parts of your ceremony, and the stunning couple shots that we capture throughout the grounds at the venue.

My second style of video is a storybook video. This incorporates every aspect of your day from start to finish. Depending on which of my packages you would like, you will also get your fully edited speeches, a 1-4 minute highlight video, unedited ceremony and first dance footage. I always love to accept any special requests you may have if you have anything particular that you would like to be captured or be included in your wedding video.

Capturing a surrey wedding is never seen just as a “job” to me. In fact, it is far from it… Before being a professional videographer, I used to use my camera to create short documentaries, vlogs and talking head videos. Now, after years of hard work, I get to use some of the the best Sony cameras available to record my weddings in ultra HD (or 4K). The quality of the cameras I use are at a Netflix standard, which is only one of the many factors that allows me to turn your Surrey wedding into the video that you’ve always dreamed of.
