I was honored to be Liz and Joe’s wedding photographer at Gorse Hill Hotel. I arrived early at the elegant mansion house hotel in the beautiful Surrey countryside. I always like to have a look around the grounds when photographing my weddings so I can familiarise myself with the venue and scope out potential photo locations.
Gorse Hill Hotel is located in a very peaceful location, surrounded by expansive landscaped photogenic gardens. It is only a few minutes from the center of Woking, Surrey, and is ideally located between the M25 and M3. This stunning venue offers easy access to London and the surrounding areas.
Gorse Hill is simply the perfect Surrey wedding venue as they really like to cater to each individual couple and help them create the wedding that they have always dreamed of having. The incredible Edwardian mansion is set amongst 17 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside which makes for the perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs. The Mansion House itself allows up to 90 guests or you can have up to 150 guests in the Garden Suite Ballroom.

WHY I LOVE TO PHOTOGRAPH WEDDINGS AT Gorse Hill Hotel
It is a delight to be a Gorse Hill Hotel wedding photographer. I specialize in both sides of wedding photography. The natural candid photos which is more of a documentary style whilst also being able to confidently direct the most intimate photographic parts of the day such as the couple shoot and group shots. As you can see throughout all of the photos, myself, Liz and Joe had a lot of fun throughout the day and taking the couple’s photos. I was extremely grateful when they left me an amazing review a few days after the wedding.
For me, photography is a profession but more importantly a passion that allows me to get creative with even the most camera-shy couples by forming that initial friendship-style relationship with them from the get-go. A beautiful wedding venue like Gorse Hill Hotel is a perfect setting to allow couples to go for a stroll around the grounds and let them be themselves. I like my couples to feel comfortable around me on their wedding day and want them to use me as their photographer because they like my style and my personality and not because of any awards that I may have won. Your wedding day is usually one of the most important days of your life and I believe that there is nothing more rewarding than capturing the true love between couples on their wedding day and helping them create moments that will be remembered for a lifetime.
BRIDAL PREP At Gorse Hill Hotel
Liz and the girls decided to use the luxurious honeymoon/ bridal suite at Gorse Hill Hotel to get ready. It comes with its own balcony overlooking the gardens which is the perfect escape to relax and reflect on your special day or pose for a quick snap. The bridesmaids were getting their makeup done by the makeup artists when I arrived. I then captured the rest of the bridal prep, Liz getting in her wedding dress and a few photos with the maid of honor before heading over to the ceremony in the Garden Suite Ballroom. Here are a few shots from the bridal prep of the girls having their hair and make-up done, putting the dress on and getting some bridal squad shots before they tied the knot.
CEREMONY AT Gorse Hill Hotel
We are very lucky to have such a characteristic ceremony venue that offers tons of features in the UK. Gorse Hill Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Woking, Surrey and is hidden away in the rolling hills of Surrey. They have two simple packages to off which are shown in their brochure, but they can be tailored to create your own unique wedding day. Liz and Joe decided to use the Garden Suite Ballroom for their ceremony. They had the flower girl and ring holder walk down the aisle and had the Star Wars theme tune playing when the guests originally entered the venue to take their seats.
The wedding coordinators like to make each and every ceremony unique. Whether that is making sure that they add some extra flowers to the chairs on the aisle, or lighting a few extra candles they always know how to make every couple feel special.
THE WEDDING RECEPTION AT Gorse Hill Hotel
The Gorse Hill Hotel staff really pulled out all of the stops with turning the Garden Suite Ballroom around for the wedding reception. They laid out all of the tables beautifully with all of the decorations for the wedding breakfast. I was extremely grateful to get served the main course, us photographers always work up a huge appetite as we are on our feet most of the day so I always appreciate a lovely hot meal. Shortly after the meal, I organized the group shots and took the newlyweds around the grounds for the couple’s shoot. I let Liz and Joe have a lovely stroll around the beautiful grounds as they were not really a posy couple so I let them have a romantic walk and snapped some photos of them as they had some alone time.
Not long after, the band arrived at Gorse Hill Hotel and was setting up in the space that the wedding coordinators had created for them in the reception room. The live music kicked off and brought some amazing vibes and some interesting dance moves. Overall it was a pleasure to work with Liz and Joe and photograph their wedding at Gorse Hill Hotel.
